ESD Static Dissipative Flooring
ESD floors are spark-proof, durable and eliminate static charge. Our static dissipative and conductive systems are excellent for electronics production, semiconductor and munitions plants, aerospace facilities, as well as power plants, clean rooms, computer rooms and aircraft hangars.
Do you run a manufacturing plant or repair shop for laptops, smartphones, or other consumer goods? Do you rely on sensitive computers or robotics as part of your process? If so, stray static discharges from the air have the potential to cost you thousands of dollars in damage. And as circuitry and microprocessors become smaller and more sensitive each year, the risk of damage by stray static discharges multiplies.
Electrostatic dissipative (ESD) flooring can protect electronic equipment by both preventing and minimizing the effect of static discharges.
How it works
ESD flooring typically consists of a durable epoxy floor coating with dissipative elements added into it.
Traditional flooring materials can actually build up charges as workers walk across them, but anti-static floor coatings are designed to prevent electrical buildup. And when a static discharge is released, ESD flooring minimizes its destructive potential by spreading the shock over a larger area.
Combined with other precautions such as rubber mats, special employee shoes and a grounding system, an anti-static flooring system can help protect your electronic investment.
The process matters
In order to make sure the anti-static coating functions properly, it’s important to make sure the existing concrete floor has been properly cleaned and prepared before the coating is applied. There’s a lot riding on the protection your ESD flooring provides, so don’t let your installer set you up for failure!
